Accepting the App Store terms

The first time your organization opens the 8x8 App Store, a Terms & Conditions window may cover the whole page. Nothing else — the catalog, the sidebar, the header — is reachable until it is answered. If no window appears, there is nothing outstanding for your account.

What the window asks

The window shows the terms in a scrollable box, with the document's title, its version and its date above the text. Below the box:

  • Tick I have read and agree to the Terms & Conditions.
  • Click Agree and continue.

Agree and continue stays greyed out until the box is ticked. Unlike an app's terms at install, this window does not require you to scroll to the bottom first — the tick is the whole gate.

If you would rather not accept, Log out closes the session. There is no other way past the window, which is why the button is there: the window replaces the App Store shell, including the usual header.

Which terms you see

There are two versions of this window, and which one you get is decided for you — you cannot choose:

If your App Store…The window points at
comes to you directly from 8x8the 8x8 App Store Terms of Use
comes to you through a resellerthe 8x8 App Store Resale End Customer Terms of Use

The window itself looks the same either way. What differs is the document it links to, because a customer served by a reseller is bound by terms written for that relationship rather than by the general ones.

If you are not sure which applies to you, open Terms & conditions in the left sidebar of the App Store. It opens the document that applies to your account, in a new tab, and follows the same rule.

After you accept

The acceptance is recorded for the whole account, so the window does not come back — for you or for your colleagues. If 8x8 later publishes a new version of the terms, it appears once more so the new version can be read and accepted.

Accepting these terms is separate from the terms you accept when you install an individual app. Those are the app's own terms and appear during the install. See Installing a paid app.

If the terms don't load

The window shows Couldn't load the terms. Please try again. with a Retry button. If retrying doesn't help, the App Store cannot be entered until it does — contact your 8x8 administrator, or your reseller if your App Store comes from one.
